The Freemove sail that is like no other. From a trip into the waves, relaxed freeriding, to the first freestyle moves, the Torro is and remains our reliable multi-talent. 5 battens, including a tube batten above the boom, allow an amazing top speed, as well as early planing abilities. The distinctive yet variable profile combines acceleration with a huge wind range and an easy and forgiving handling.
The sizes of the Torro are adapted to the specific requirements of the wind conditions. In the smaller sizes, the luff is reduced and the bending curve has been adapted to the more compact outline. This gives the sail that extra wave characteristic and makes the profile more stable and easier to control. Especially at higher wind speeds it remains balanced and forgiving.
The bigger sizes of the Torro move a bit further into the freeride and bump and jump zone. By using 3 mil Square Ply in the top of the sail, the Torro becomes even lighter without losing its familiar durability.
The Torro is not only the ideal combination of many disciplines but represents endless windsurfing fun for all levels.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - F.R.E.D.

F.R.E.D. will help you to fi nd the optimal luff trim for your sail. The mark is found in the upper sail window and serves as an orientation point to create the perfect luff tension (loose leech).

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Top Guard

The large reinforcement at the sail top avoids abrasion and wearing out whilst rigging.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Vario Top

The top opening is enlarged for an easier mast insertion. The adjustment buckle is placed behind the mast; unnecessary webbing can be stowed in the top opening.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Mini Battens

Lightweight mini battens take control of the leech while twisting and avoid detrimental leech fl utter. In this way, the window fabrics are spared and the longevity of the sail is predefined.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Batten Guard

PVC tabs on the upper batten pockets prevent wearing out and abrasion whilst rigging.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Internal Trim Batten

The Internal Trim Batten system is completely integrated into the batten pocket and the battens can stay tensioned in the sail. The profi led end piece offers additional protection against abrasion.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Pocket Guard

A PVC braid, sewed on the bottom batten pocket, protects your sail from abrasion while uphauling and waterstarting.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Reduced Boom Length

The Reduced Boom Length design shortens the boom length. The handling is much easier and feels more compact. The sail control is signifi cantly improved. A shorter boom is generally stiffer and will assist in maintaining the sail stability and profile.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Offset Clew

The Wave sails are equipped with 2 clew eyelets which are set asymmetrically for individual tuning:

Upper eyelet for more power
Lower eyelet for more control

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Trim Setting

The boom length is printed beside the clew. The mast lenght is patched on the mast protector.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Boom Position Control

The printed height scale at the boom opening helps you to easily remember your personal boom position.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Double Lock Seams

Double seams form the most stable connection between individual panels and different materials. They are used in stress zones as well as in areas of high tension and make your sail robust and durable.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Foot Guard

All seams in the significantly stressed foot area are protected by Dacron coverings. A PVC edging from foot to the first batten protects the leech edge against your board’s nonslip coating.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Comfort Pulley

The integrated triple pulley has large easy turning stainless brass rolls which greatly reduce the effort required for sail trimming. Also, if you prefer, the rolls are removable to allow the use of standard downhaul pulley hooks.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Sleeve Volumer

The GUNSAILS logo that is sewn on the sleeve keeps it open at the boom opening area like a clip and thus mast insertion is much easier.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Strap On

For very easy packing away and storage: Just roll the sail up and fix the elastic retainer.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Mesh Pocket

On the inside of the protector you will find a closable mesh pocket which can hold e.g. your downhaul surplus.

GUNSAILS | Sail Features - Mast Foot Protector

The large mast foot protector can be pulled back whilst rigging. The loop eases the initial pulling down of the sail. The uphaul can be comfortably inserted through an opening in the protector.

GUNSAILS | Sail Tech - Intelligent Material Assembly

The well designed combination of different materials allows weight savings without losing stability. By varying the stretch behaviour of the individual materials, we can precisely define each sail profile under pressure and guarantee you consistent sailing characteristics over the long term.

GUNSAILS | Sail Tech - Tension Frame

The Tension frame forms a functional unit with the smart clew construction. It is built from multidirectional x-ply and framed with insignia. Therefore it can resist maximum stress levels. The Tension frame receives the force from the clew and distributes the tension with the additional warp lines into the sail. The layout of the tension frame is designed to support the individual profile of every sail. Conclusively the tension frame improves the response of the sail and increases the profile stability. It also ensures long lasting sail characteristics and improves the overall durability of the sail.

GUNSAILS | Sail Tech - Double Lock Seams

Double Seams provide the most stable connection between panels or different materials. They find use in areas of high material tension and make your sail tough and durable.

GUNSAILS | Sail Tech - Smart Clew Construction

The Smart Clew Construction is based on the tension specific and precise alignment of different materials. The result is an extremely durable clew area without additional weight. Depending the sail the layout of the materials varies in order to suit the resulting tension lines in order to distribute the force from the clew, towards the Tension Frame into the sail. That helps to create more response, better profile stability and long lasting sail characteristics.

GUNSAILS | Sail Tech - Kevlar Stretch Control

Through the selected use of kevlar warp laminate, we are able to precisely define the stretch properties of every sail. This leads to more response and a long lasting and stable sail profile. The light and unidirectional kevlar threads show very low stretch, even under highest loads. They are individually positioned in each sail to suit its range of application, leading to long lasting performance and sail characteristics.

GUNSAILS | Sail Tech - Multidirectional X-Ply

Multidirectional X-Ply is used in high stress areas. The thread layout shows a higher density of polyester yarn, thus making the material more resistant than the regular X-Ply. The additional vertical thread direction allows the material to take more tension and force in the critical tension line.

GUNSAILS | Sail Tech - Square-Ply

The square ply is based on the same concept as X-ply material. However the threads are aligned in a 90 degree angle and the material offers a higher overall thread density. That allows us to reduce the thickness of the included monofilm to save weight, but ensure durability at the same time.

GUNSAILS | Sail Tech - X-Ply

X-PLY the all time classic of the reinforced laminates. It is light, stable and has a good transparency. Therefore it is used in the window area of the Wave-and Cross Over Sails. X-Ply also does withstand higher punctual stress. In case of a cut, the threads avoid further damage because they stop the cut from spreading through the window.

GUNSAILS | Test report Torro Freemove Windsurf Sail Windsurfing Jahrbuch 2019

ON THE BEACH: The Torro has earned itself an enviable reputation as a balanced all-round sail in recent years. Our tests in recent years have shown that the Torro always works well on freeride to wave boards and in the right conditions. For 2019 the Torro has been revised in some details. The tube batten over the boom has disappeared as well as superfluous sail seams in this area. These now run - as with Gun's wave sails - from the clew to the upper mast pocket to stabilize the profile and sail twist. Positive side effect: The Torro is over 200 grams lighter than last year and all that without saving on the numerous reinforcements! For all those who like a more direct sailing feeling and use the Torro mainly in shallow water, Gun also offers the slightly cheaper Torro FR with monofilm instead of X-Ply in the main window in sizes over 5.3 this year.

ON THE WATER: Spectacular, wild, exotic and completely uncompromising! Sometimes we need superlatives and wild language buildings to describe the partly daring products. This sail is such a balanced, versatile and customer-friendly product that in the long run it blurs the categories of short-term attention into a memory of banal superficiality. Now, let's put an end to this philosophy and get on the water. Although the Torro is not particularly light, it is incredibly balanced in the hand. When planing, the harmonious profile and the Dacron luff form a well-balanced unit that provides gentle propulsion. Even without the tube batten over the boom, the Torro doesn't feel spongy, but pleasant and direct and reacts without delay to the rider's impulses. The Torro's driving stability is exemplary in a group comparison. It does not ride like a small freeride sail, but compared to the wave-oriented profiles of Morpho Sails or Sailloft it offers a more stable riz position. The Torro retains this stability over a very large wind range and the flexible top twists effectively even in very strong gusts. If you plan to use the Torro for the wave, you can't raise your expectations for radical cutbacks and there are also more agile rigs for freestyling, but the forgiving features help climbers with their first frontside turns. The Torro does everything.

CONCLUSION: The proverbial "safe bench" seems to be carved from the same wood as the Torro, because with this rig windsurfing is simply fun. There are better products for certain areas, but when it comes to versatility, the Torro is excellent - and there are no weaknesses.

GUNSAILS | Test Report Torro Freemove Windsurf Sail Planchemag 2019

The most "wave-style" of the group

The Torro is 75% X-Ply sail, with narrower and lighter meshes in the top area, the sail has a relatively stretched outline with a reasonable boom length. It is also available with a monofilm window in the FR version.

ON THE WATER: The Torro is light in the hand; if you decrease a bit the tension on the clew , it brings extra pull to the front and on the backhand and you can also get a lot of power in light winds. It's one of the most balanced and stable sails, offering a good mixture of performance and handling, with one of the most durable workmanship in the group. The clew tension also offers a certain amount of play to adjust the profile to more or less depending on conditions and the desired sailing feel. It has a loose leech that works well and a certain reluctance to pull on the rear hand: so it works all by itself in the autopilot mode in windy conditions. One of the Torro's qualities is that in onshore conditions it is the most suitable sail for waves in the group, whether in manoeuvres or down the line: it is the sail with the most OFF in the wave, the sail that is most likely to become invisible. It should also be noted that in strong winds it is less unstable than others, you just need to take some pull from the backhand to let it plane in autopilot mode. You only have a little less drive at the end of a manoeuvre than with others. When the water gets rough, you enjoy a touch of softness that allows you to continue surfing comfortably and calmly.

CONCLUSION: This robust all-wheel sail harmoniously combines stability and freedom to adapt to the current conditions; it is powerful and fast on shallow water and light and playful in the waves. A sail that can be perfectly combined with Freewave/Freemove boards.

GUNSAILS | Test Report Torro Freemove Windsurf Sail Wind Mag 2019

A TRUE FUNBOARD SAIL "Choix des testeur"

DESIGN: The panel layout of the Torro has been slightly refined. The area of the Square-Ply cloth in the sail top, soft, light and interlaced with threads, has been enlarged. The rest of the sail, 75% in total, consists of robust X-Ply, with the yarn density changing according to the risk areas.

ON THE WATER: Like all GUNSAILS, the Torro is a "turnkey" sail, which is ideally adjusted if you follow the trim mark during rigging. With the enlargement of the square-ply in the upper area, the Torro seems lighter than in 2018. So what you feel in your hands is also true on the scales. The upper sail area, which wasn't very noticeable before in terms of weight, is now even more discrete. With its 178 cm boom length, the Torro is also not bulky, with its measures it lies exactly in the average of the test group. The sail starts efficiently without pulling too hard in the arms. After that you plane totally easy with a rigg, which feels rather stable. With this rig you are really at the core of the discipline, a skilful mix of sail tension and freedom of movement. With the Torro you can go straight with good speed and if you want to do a jibe or surf a wave, the Torro also offers you this kind of play and won't stop you. In pure wave riding, the sail is not the most neutral, but it performs well. Above all, it is versatile, the 5.7 GUNSAILS scores points in strong winds because it benefits from its good attitude. With the Torro in your hands, you spend your afternoon alternating between straight lines, jumps and wave rides.

CONCLUSION: With the Torro the discipline Funboard is ennobled again, here you get a sail with which you have fun in all conditions. Simply put your feet into the foot straps and off you go, then it is easy to handle and carefree. GUNSAILS fulfills this requirement specification with a rig, which is stable on the straight as well as being gentle in manoeuvres, where you have to slow down the performance.
