Freeride reloaded. Our no cam freeride engine is easy, straightforward to sail and offers pure joy once planing. Easy to rig and easy to handle, the Stream combines perfectly performance and user- friendliness. The stream starts planing quickly, accelerates to excellent top speed and feels very balanced in hands. During maneuvers it is a class of its own, incredibly light and with an imperceptible batten rotation. Once hooked in the harness, its profile is cemented, the Stream puts itself into the right position and starts accelerating.

From the smallest to the 6.9 sqm size, the Stream can also be used with an RDM mast, providing even easier handling with the same performance.

FAST RIGGING EASY DOING

F.R.E.D. will help you to fi nd the optimal luff trim for your sail. The mark is found in the upper sail window and serves as an orientation point to create the perfect luff tension (loose leech).

Image

REDUCED BOOM LENGTH

The Reduced Boom Length design shortens the boom length. The handling is much easier and feels more compact. The sail control is signifi cantly improved. A shorter boom is generally stiffer and will assist in maintaining the sail stability and profile.

Image

TOP GUARD

The large reinforcement at the sail top avoids abrasion and wearing out whilst rigging.

Image

VARIO TOP

The top opening is enlarged for an easier mast insertion. The adjustment buckle is placed behind the mast; unnecessary webbing can be stowed in the top opening.

Image

MINI BATTENS

Lightweight mini battens take control of the leech while twisting and avoid detrimental leech fl utter. In this way, the window fabrics are spared and the longevity of the sail is predefined.

Image

BATTEN GUARD

PVC tabs on the upper batten pockets prevent wearing out and abrasion whilst rigging.

Image

INTERNAL TRIM BATTEN

The Internal Trim Batten system is completely integrated into the batten pocket and the battens can stay tensioned in the sail. The profi led end piece offers additional protection against abrasion.

Image

POCKET GUARD

A PVC braid, sewed on the bottom batten pocket, protects your sail from abrasion while uphauling and waterstarting.

Image

OFFSET CLEW

The Wave sails are equipped with 2 clew eyelets which are set asymmetrically for individual tuning.
▲ Upper eyelet for more power
▲ Lower eyelet for more control

Image

BOOM SETTING

The boom length is printed beside the clew.

Image

BOOM POSITION CONTROL

The printed height scale at the boom opening helps you to easily remember your personal boom position.

Image

SLEEVE VOLUMER

The Gun Sails logo that is sewn on the sleeve keeps it open at the boom opening area like a clip and thus mast insertion is much easier.

Image

MAST FOOT PROTECTOR

The large mast foot protector can be pulled back whilst rigging. The loop eases the initial pulling down of the sail. The uphaul can be comfortably inserted through an opening in the protector.

Image

FOOT GUARD

All seams in the significantly stressed foot area are protected by Dacron coverings. A PVC edging from foot to the first batten protects the leech edge against your board’s nonslip coating.

Image

COMFORT PULLEY

The integrated triple pulley has large easy turning stainless brass rolls which greatly reduce the effort required for sail trimming. Also, if you prefer, the rolls are removable to allow the use of standard downhaul pulley hooks.

Image

MESH POCKET

On the inside of the protector you will find a closable mesh pocket which can hold e.g. your downhaul surplus.

Image

STRAP ON

For very easy packing away and storage: Just roll the sail up and fix the elastic retainer.

PLANCHEMAG SPECIAL TESTS 2017 / STREAM 6.4 2017

SLALOM MADE EASIER

With five battens for the 4.7 and 5.5m2. and six for the 6.0m2 model, the Stream has a racier design than its rivals, copied from Freeride sports sails. Namely, a pronounced sail depth at the front and a large leech opening.

ON THE WATER: The Stream is more sporty, a little bit less user-friendly than its competition for the less experienced rider. The reason ? It has a less natural profile rotation around the large diameter mast in a waterstart or gybe and the power is more elusive on the back hand in the take-off phase and when when trying to keep planing when the wind is light. It is more at ease in a steady wind, outperforming its competitors in this group in speed, stability and control. It's both lighter and easier to get out of the water than a Gun Rapid with seven battens or for gybing at a very high level. Very balanced, with light pressure on the back hand you can go for hours without tiring or pushing too hard when you run into strong wind. It is an evolutionary sail that you can push further and harder during sessions, thanks to its ability to sail overpowered, flying over the water. For the lightest body weights and those looking for crosswind speed with the minimum of stress, the Stream is a good choice. And if you are a bit nervous about the profile rotation being a bit more brutal and drier than the other sails when gybing, this can be cured by fitting a small diameter RDM mast, which will accentuate the board's lightness and freedom of movement.

SUMMARY: More at ease when let off the leash, going full throttle in a steady crosswind, hunting down the squalls on a confined body of water, the Stream excels as the wind pushes harder on boards and glides well. Its balance and control make it possible to sail for hours without too much exertion.

+: Price, construction, stability, predictable medium and high speed performance, control.
- : A drier profile rotation with an SDM mast, slight lack of power in light winds.
