HY-BOARD VYBE – Dynamic. Progressive. Performance-oriented.

Whether it’s relaxed cruising sessions or radical maneuvers in challenging conditions – the HY-BOARD VYBE is the versatile mid-length board for ambitious riders who want to take their foiling skills to the next level.

The narrower mid-length shape provides a long, low-drag planing surface and accelerates quickly enough to lift off even in the lightest breeze. At the same time, the board remains agile and easy to control.

The proven volume distribution with extra buoyancy in the tail ensures exceptional stability in displacement mode, while the narrow tail with its angled tail-kick enables an especially early and effortless take-off. This hybrid diamond-squash-tail geometry also allows for quick, precise turns and immediate response. The subtle V-double-concave bottom ensures smooth, controlled touchdowns and effortless acceleration.

Advanced riders will particularly benefit from the recessed deck, which lowers the center of gravity and creates a direct connection to the foil – perfect for technical maneuvers and jumps. The large diamond grip pad provides secure footing during strapless sessions and allows for versatile footstrap positioning.

The EcoTec sandwich construction with Paulownia wood, vacuum lamination and targeted reinforcements creates a sustainable, robust and extremely lightweight board construction.

Testbericht Wing Foil Board Vybe

WINGSURFERS / HY-BOARD VYBE 5'5"

EASY MID-LENGTH?

With the Vibe, Gunsails enters the race with a modern mid-length board. How does the new shape perform against strong competition?

ON LAND: We tested the smallest shape in the Vibe range, the 5'5" model with 60 liters of volume. Alongside this compact version, four larger siblings are available with 75, 88, 105, and 115 liters. With a width of 50.5 cm and a length of 165 cm, the 60-liter board appears slim, stretched, and performance-oriented. The volume is evenly distributed across the entire length. Sharp release edges and a diamond step tail — combined with the long, straight planing surface — are designed to ensure a fast yet smooth transition into flight.
Typical for Gunsails, where the focus traditionally lies on balanced all-round performance rather than pure high-end specialization, even the smallest Vibe features a comfortable carry handle. The bottom shape uses a light double concave that flattens out towards the tail. The standing area has been designed consistently flat. Four rows of inserts at the front and rear offer many options for individual footstrap positioning. However, riders using foils like Armstrong or current Duotone models — which generate relatively little front-foot pressure — should mount the straps all the way back to achieve proper trim. Riders going strapless have it easier, as the generously sized deck pad provides plenty of freedom for different stance positions.
Overall, the board is very cleanly finished, and the weight of 5.4 kg is absolutely respectable for a 60-liter board.

ON THE WATER: Similar to the Duotone Skybrid, the Vibe’s evenly distributed volume provides a stable platform during knee starts. Even when slogging, the board remains surprisingly comfortable to stand on considering its low volume. With a bit of skill, starts directly from the straps are no problem, or you can simply stay in them when accelerating again after a full touchdown. This allows for a quick and controlled takeoff onto the foil.
The flat deck and elongated outline deliver a strong sense of control in flight. In turns before a wave or during jibes, the shape favors larger curves — tight snaps are not its main strength.During touchdowns, the nose only dips briefly and releases quickly again.

FOR WHOM? Especially lighter riders looking for a board that gets onto the foil quickly and offers high control in all flight situations will be perfectly served by the smallest Vibe. Whether on flat water or in waves, the board impresses with calm, composed handling.

Plus: early takeoff, balanced, control
Minus: foil tracks relatively short, no straps included
