HY-Series Wings - Quality products that take your wing game to the next level.
The development of wingsurfing began in the 80s, but initial aluminum constructions and windsurfing sails did not yet lead to a breakthrough due to lack of functionality and performance. The introduction of kite surfing brought advances, including lighter and more flexible wings through inflatable struts and lighter materials. In 2011, prototypes emerged that were similar to today's Wing. With the development of hydrofoils, wing foiling was born, a fun water sport that became a sustainable trend.
There's no question that winging is huge fun, whether on land or water, on concrete, in snow or on ice - the new windsport discipline is easy to learn and incredibly versatile. The equipment is easy to handle and unbeatable in pack size.
So you're looking for the perfect wing to start wingsurfing or take your riding skills to the next level? Much like the sail in windsurfing or the kite in kitesurfing, the Wing is powered by the wind - the engine that makes you glide or foil. It's a critical component if you want to have an easy launch or make progress.
So here's some background information on our HY-Series Wings:
What are the differences between V1 and V2?
Both versions are absolute quality products for a wide wind range, with excellent control, performance and efficiency. Our wings are tailored to all skill levels, from beginner to advanced wingsurfer, at a great value. Although the team loved our first version, we still found a few things we wanted to improve for version 2:
- Adjusted window geometry for better visibility and safety on the water
- Stiffer and wider padded handles for perfect grip
- More stability for excellent handling
- Increased responsiveness with stronger struts
- Leading edge with a stronger, double-cut Dacron material
- Even wider wind range and the new 3-square size for up to 45 knots
While the V1 is still a great wing at a great price, you obviously get a little more performance with the V2. With a pump, leash, and backpack, both products include a great accessory package. The HY Series Wings are super lightweight and setup is a breeze. Learn more here.
How to choose the right size?
Here are a few quick tips to help you get started. The following considerations are important to help you choose the right product for you to have the most fun with:
- Skill level
- Your body weight
- Conditions on site (waves/wind)
- Fit with your board + foil sizes
Consider your weight and skill level. In general, smaller wings are better for lighter riders or those with advanced skills, while larger wings are ideal for heavier riders or beginners who need more stability.
Think about the wind conditions in your destination area. If you normally have little wind, a larger wing will help you generate more lift and stay in the air. In strong winds, a smaller wing is more maneuverable and easier to control.
Pay attention to the size of your board. The size of your wing should be proportional to the size of your board. So choose a wing that fits the dimensions of your board.
If you follow these tips, you'll be well on your way to finding the perfect wing for you. Explore our selection today and experience the thrill of wing foiling!
Wing size selection
Thanks to the wide wind range of the HY-Wing can cover almost all conditions with 4 sizes. The design is suitable for beginners, advanced and also those who are trying to define limits of the sport. The following table assigns a wind range to each size:
Info: The figures refer to a wingsurfer with a body weight of 75 kg. If you are significantly heavier or lighter, it is best to choose the next larger or smaller size. The same applies to very experienced surfers, who can usually achieve the same performance with slightly less wing area.
