FABIAN WOLF WINS DWC AND CROWNS GERMAN CHAMPION 2023

From July 25th to 30th the International German Championships in Slalom were held in front of Westerland on the island of Sylt. Our team rider Fabian Wolf could win the event and is now official German Champion in Slalom.

Since the first days were too extreme shorebreak in front of Westerland, a pure Finn Slalom and a Wave Contest were held without further ado. From Friday to Sunday it was finally time, the wind shifted a bit more to sideshore and so it was possible to go on the water with the foil. So this was the starting signal for the German Slalom Championships, where -as in the PWA Worldcup- every rider can choose whether to start with the foil or with the fin. Despite up to two meters of wave and 25 knots of wind Fabian stayed true to the foil, which was the right decision. In the all-important race for the German championship title, he beat Vincent Langer on the fin and thus took the victory.

Fabian Wolf: "Goal achieved! I had prepared extremely well for the championships, spent a lot of time tuning my material to be best equipped for the conditions on Sylt. But the hard and time-consuming work has now paid off and I'm all the more happy about the German championship title. It wasn't an easy win because the conditions for foiling were really extreme, every little mistake ended in a crash in these wind and waves."

Overall ranking German Slalom Championships:
1. Fabian Wolf (Gunsails, FMX).
2. Vincent Langer (Duotone/Phantom, Fanatic)
3. Gunnar Asmussen (Severne, Starboard)
4. Lars Poggemann (Patrik)
5. Jonne Heimann (Neilpryde, JP)
