STEVEN VAN BROECKHOVEN ON THE PODIUM AT PWA SYLT

At the 2023 schauinslandreisen Windsurf World Cup Sylt, powered by got2b, the men's freestyle elite took center stage for the first time and the contortionists of the windsurfing world delivered in style.

They say that variety is the spice of life, and in this sense Sylt never disappoints as you never know exactly what to expect thanks to the wide variety of conditions this wonderful island can produce. Strong onshore winds produce huge swells that dash all the hopes of unsuspecting participants, and powerful waves up to three or four meters in size that make for fantastic wavesailing conditions, while providing a real challenge for the slalom and freestyle fleets. On the other hand, Sylt can also offer great racing and freestyle conditions when offshore winds grace the island with their presence, although it can be bitterly cold then. One thing is for sure: if you want to win here, you have to be a complete all-rounder, ready to be put through their paces.

Steven Van Broeckhoven surfed brilliantly to secure his place in the final and was very happy with his second place in the single elimination. By his own admission, the Belgian didn't have his best final against Neubauer, but he still had a fantastic day on the water.

In the end, Steven ended up in an excellent third place. Congratulations!
